Our Beginning

My decision to become a Child Care Professional was made in 1992 on a beautiful Spring Day. As our usual routine, my children and I would wake up at 4:00 am every morning to prepare for the day. I was in the military and my formation was at 6:00 am sharp. I had to take my children to a friend whom watched my children until their daycare opened at 7:30 am. While picking my girls up at the daycare, their Director said something to me that changed my whole daily perspective. She said, I’ve watched you interact with all the children in the center and they just love you. Have you ever thought about becoming a Child Care Provider? I said me? Daycare?

I pondered the thought for a few hours and started my research on how to become a Registered Provider. My enlistment was ending in less than 6 months and I hadn’t thought about not re-enlisting. The next day, I commented to the Director, I’m registered for orientation to become a Provider. She became my greatest inspiration, as she mentored through the childcare licensing process. I began taking additional classes, home schooling my children, caring and nurturing other children. Being a Child Care Provider has been a very humbling experience and quite different from my military days.

Our First Employee

My Dear Mom, the late, Mrs. Catherine Barnes aka Nana. My mother was my biggest Cheerleader to embark upon this Childcare journey. She retired and came to work with me in 1995 as my Licensed Assistant. Nana would provide care for the infants and she loved all her babies ! They loved her as well! The bond she formed with all our families would last the remainder of her lifetime. Today, we still have families that are still connected to our family with the deepest affections. Childcare is more than just taking care of the children and sending them home.
